TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - , The Karanganyar Police conducted a police operation on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Palur junction to anticipate a mass-mobilization of people that will allegedly disrupts the Jakarta GubernatorialRunoff election.
Police checkpoints were established to inspect vehicles including public transports and goods transport vehicles. Meanwhile motorcycles awere allowed to pass without being inspected.
The police deploy armed officers and K-9 squads. Vehicles with foreign license plates are stopped to be inspected while public transportations are inspected by the female police officers.
"There are no indications of any mass-mobilization from Karanganyar towards Jakarta," says Karanganyar Police Chief, Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak.
Police also handed out flyers which contains a ban on mobilization of people towards Jakarta that was issued by the Police, in cooperation with Jakarta's General Election Commission, and Jakarta's Elections Supervisory Agency. "The ban was issued in order to create a condusive condition during Jakarta’s Gubernatorial Elections," Ade said.A
