TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives Speaker Setya Novanto, reminded the public to respect Jakarta Gubernatorial Election silent period from April 16 to April 18, 2017.

"Let us together utilize this period to absolutely avoid contradictive maneuvers," Setya said on Monday, Aprl 17, 2017.

The Golkar Party Chairman explained that democracy has elevated the public to be more mature in facing the momentum of Jakarta’s Gubernatorial Election that will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. He considers Jakarta as a miniature of the whole country, where a variety of ethnics across Indonesia blends in one location. "We're still one and  must preserve unity," Setya added.

Setya appreciated each and every elements of society that has worked well concerning the execution of Jakarta's Gubernatorial Election. Either the organizers, authorities, and every sympathizers that has consistently showed a wise and sensible attitude in positioning themselves throughout the process.

"The electoral silent period is the momentum to contemplate with a number of ideas and concepts that was announced by each candidates throughout their campaign," Setya said.

Setya underlined that the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election is the right of eah and every Jakarta citizens, and not only for any particular groups.

"Whoever gets elected is chosen by the people. The people will end up being the winner in this celebration of democracy," Setya concluded.
