TEMPO.CO, Jayapura - The Jayapura Search and Rescue (SAR) team has deployed 12 personnel to Oksibil, Papua, to evacuate the pilot of Cessna plane that crashed on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. The plane is owned by PT Spirit Asia Sentosa (SAS).
Jayapura SAR Agency chief Suyatno, said that the 12 personnel departed to Oksibil on an ATR Trigana airplane. Suyatno said that the team has not moved to the location due to difficult terrain.
"[The team] is still waiting for an SAS helicopter from Dekai," Suyatno said as quoted by Antara on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
Earlier, on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, a Cessna C208 Grand Caravan cargo plane lost contact after departing from Tanah Merah to Oksibil. Transportation Ministry's director general of air transportation said that search and rescue team has been deployed to search for the plane.
The Grand Caravan plane with a flight number of PK-FSO, piloted by Capt. Rio Pasaribu, took off from Tanah Merah on 11:44 Eastern Indonesia Time and was expected to land in Oksibil on 12:14 Western Indonesia Time. However, the Air Traffic Control lost contact with the plane.
