TEMPO.CO, Mataram - As many as 93 cyclists from 19 countries participating at the 2017 Tour de Lombok Mandalika started their journey from the veranda of West Nusa Tenggara governor's office on Thursday, April 13, 2017. The race that will be held from 13 – 16 April 2017 has obtained a 2.2 status from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Muhammad Zainul Majdi inaugurated the start on Thursday, April 13, 2017. “This is the first and is included in UCI’s official agenda,” he said.
Tour de Lombok Mandalika will cover a total of 485.6 kilometers, which will be separated into four stages. The first stage will travel through Mataram - Kuta, Central Lombok covering a distance of 126.3 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the second stage will cover 113.3 kilometers through Bangsal - Senaru in North Lombok.
The third stage will cover 134 kilometers route through Kuta - Sembalun, East Lombok. The fourth stage will have 112 kilometers circuit race consisting of 10 laps. The third, sixth, and ninth lap will feature a sprint track.
West Nusa Tenggara’s Head of Tourism, Moh Faozal, said that international and domestic competition cyclists will be eager to experience the Tour de Lombok Mandalika considering that the event features a number of special challenging routes such as the one that travels through
Sembalun, foot of Mount Rinjani.
