TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Precinct Police chief Sr. Comr. Iwan Kurniawan said that NET TV reporter assailant Kaishira Uozumi, 25, was tested positive for drugs.
"The test results show [that the assailant] consumed amphetamine, methamphetamine, and marijuana," Iwan said at his office in South Jakarta on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
However, South Jakarta Precinct Police criminal investigation unit head Adj. Sr. Comr. Budi Hermanto said that police did not find drugs at the location where Kaishira was arrested on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Budi said that police would search Kaishira's house and office, if necessary.
In response to a question whether Kaishira will undergo drug treatment, Budi said that it will be decided by investigators based on several considerations.
"[The case] will be handled by the drugs unit," Budi explained.
Earlier, Kaishira assaulted NET TV reporter Haritz when covering floods in Kemang, South Jakarta on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Haritz captured Kaishira's Mini Cooper before the incident took place.
Kaishira was uncomfortable for being photographed and hit Haritz in his face and spat him. Haritz tried to calm Kishira down and promised to erase the footage. However, Kaishira suddenly took the camera by force and broke its viewfinder. Kaishira also hit NET TV's car, causing a dent. Haritz later reported the incident to the South Jakarta Precinct Police.
Police said that Kaishira could be charged with assault and vandalism. Police will also question Kaishira's friends to investigate their involvement in the assault.
