TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have captured the man who allegedly attacked NET TV reporter Haritz Ardiansyah. The South Jakarta Police said that the man is a 25-year-old, with the initials KGU.
"We arrested him in Kemang at about 19:00 last night," The South Jakarta Police's criminal division chief Adj, Sr. Comm. Budi Hermanto said on Thursday, April 13.
The police are still questioning the man, who had officially been named as a suspect.
Haritz and the NET TV news crew were covering the flood in Jalan Kemang Raya sometime after midnight on Wednesday, April 12. At that time, KGU and his two friends were opening the hood of their car.
Unhappy to have a camera pointing at them, KGU came up to Haritz and hit him in the face, and spit at him. Haritz apologized and said they will erase the footage, but KGU took the camera away from the reporter's hand. Both men fought for the camera before it broke. KGU also hit and dented the TV stations car.
The next day, KGU uploaded an apology video to his Instagram account. He asked to meet with the reporter to apologize in person.
