TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Army (TNI) is set to deploy personnel to secure the second round of the Jakarta Gubernatorial Elections. Round two of the voting is set to take place on April 19, 2017.
"In securing the election, I am working with the Chief of National Police. The voting stations will be guarded by TNI soldiers and police officers," TNI Commander in Chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo said in Cilangkap on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
According to Gatot, more TNI soldiers will secure the second round of voting compared to the first. One of the reasons is because, this time, there are 11 additional voting stations TPS (), making a total of 13,034 TPS.
"In each TPS there will be at least one officer," Gatot said.
In addition to safe-guarding the TPS, Gatot said that the TNI is ready to secure other areas considered prone to unrest.
