TEMPO.CO, Depok - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Agus Rhardjo has condemned the attack against KPK investigator Novel Baswedan. He said that it was an unfair and unjustified act.
He said that KPK investigator Novel never acted on his own initiative, adding that all decisions were made under the instruction of five KPK leaders.

“If the terror was related to an investigation into a case, it’s misdirected,” Agus said at the KPK building in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. “Investigators work under our instructions, and we assume [responsibility] and are ready to take the risk,” he said.
Agus said that the leadership has evaluated and ensured maximum protection for all KPK employees.

In the wake of the attack on Novel Baswedan yesterday, the KPK has coordinated with the National Police to crack down on the perpetrators. Agus has called on the public to help in fighting any type of terror and acts that are aimed at weakening corruption eradication efforts.
Novel Baswedan was attacked with hydrochloric acid by two unidentified men after he performed the early morning prayer near his house on Tuesday, April 11. Novel was rushed to Mitra Keluarga Hospital before being treated at Jakarta Eye Center at noon.
