TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The integration of Wahana Kalpika Cooperative's (KWK) public minivans, or locally known as angkot, with city-owned bus operator Transjakarta has been rolled out since last week. Transjakarta director Budi Kaliwono said that Transjakarta has integrated a small number of public minivans with Transjakarta in the early stage.
"There are only 75 units of 6,350 KWK minivans currently integrated with Transjakarta. It's just a trial, and we will increase the number," Budi said at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday, April 10, 2017.
In addition to increasing the number, Budi said that his company has set a target to add routes served by Transjakarta-integrated minivans. Presently, the free minivan ride program includes 10 routes across the city.
"We have set a target to add four routes on a weekly basis. The additions will commence in the coming weeks. Hopefully, it will be done this month," Budi said.
Jakarta regional Saefullah reminded Transjakarta to respect the rights of public minivan drivers participating in the program.
"Drivers' rights must be served well, as well as cooperative's. The obligation to pay the rupiah per kilometer tariff, maintenance cost and others must be clear," Saefullah said.
