TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) found 65 problems in the 10,000 MW power plants development fast-tracking program, which was started during the administration of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). As a result, the state may suffer a loss of up to Rp5.65 trillion.
"That's just the potential state loss," BPK spokesman Raden Yudi Ramdan said yesterday, April 9, 2017.
BPK also noted that state power company PT PLN (Persero) had to bear additional costs and provided an investment of US$133 million and Rp555.97 billion.
Some of the problems include delays and obstructions that affected the project's objectives, like what happened at the thermal power plant constructions at Tanjung Balai Karimun, Ambon (Waai), PLTU 2 NTB Lombok, West Kalimantan 2, and West Kalimantan 1.
PLN also failed to complete the constructions of 13 power plants due to inadequate network and system readiness, broken equipment, and inadequate planning. PLN also has not fined 12 power plant projects that were delayed, spent excessive budgets on five posts, and was not careful in making estimates for several thermal power plants, among other.
BP asked PLN to evaluate its weak of planning and implementation for the 10,000-MW project. They also asked PLN to report incremental costs to shareholders. "We will monitor and follow this up for six months," Yudi said.
PLN spokesman I Made Suprateka said they will immediately evaluate the project based on BPK's findings.
