TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Zakir Naik, a religious lecturer from India, is scheduled to give his lecture at Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium located in Bekasi on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Police will provide tight security measures at the location of his lecture by mobilizing 1,609 of their joint police personnel.

“It will have an open and closed security concept,” says Bekasi Metro Police Spokeswoman, Commissioner Erna Ruswing, on Friday, April 7, 2017.

According to her, police personnel will secure the location through pre-emptive measures, preventive measures, and early detection. Erna explains that it will be divided into two security perimeters or rings, the East ring and West ring.

Zakir Naik’s lecture is expected to attract more than 25 thousand people. “The location is currently being sterilized by a K9 team and the bomb squad,” Erna explained.

Chief of Bekasi Metro Police, Commissioner Hero Henrianto Bachtiar, advised the lecture organizers to avoid sparking an inter-religion offense.

“Bekasi is still susceptible to religious conflicts, considering that there was a problem recently concerning the construction of Santa Clara Church in Bekasi,” Hero said.

Hero reminded that police personnel won’t hesitate to immediately arrest any individuals that attempt to provoke a conflict throughout the lecture.

The theme of Zakir Naik’s lecture is “Similarity Between Islam And Christianity.”
