TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT PLN (Persero) is preparing a capital expenditure (capex) of Rp120 trillion this year. The capex is to be allotted for the construction of power plants and transmitters.
PLN finance director Sarwono Sudarto said the state power company is focusing on building new power plants, in line with the government's 35,000-MW Mega Project.

"This year's capex is above Rp120 trillion, mostly to build transmitters and power plants," he said in Jakarta Wednesday, April 5.
In 2016, PLN's electricity sales increased 2.05 percent to Rp214.1 trillion (yoy). However, the company's profit declined by 32.69 percent to Rp10.5 trillion.
PLN director of corporate planning Nicke Widyawati said the profit decline was due to the fact that PLN joined the tax amnesty program.
"That's why our tax expenses increased significantly in 2016," Nicke said in Jakarta Wednesday, April 5.
