TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR) Fary Djemy Francis, instructed the Transportation Ministry to take firm actions in implementing the revision of Transportation Minister Regulation No. 32 of 2016, which specifically aimed at regulation online based taxis.
"It is important to prevent violations and conflicts between transportation services providers that can harm consumers," Fary said on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
Fary said that the Commission V had also requested the Transportation Ministry to monitor the drafting process of regional regulation related to online based transportation services.
"We hoped that the [regional regulation] does not contradict prevailing laws and can promote a sense of justice and equality for all transportation services providers," Fary said.

"We asked the Transportation Ministry to involve all elements of the public and stakeholders, don’t hesitate to implement the regulation, [the ministry] must be firm," Fary said.
On a separate occasion, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi denied that the government was reluctant to implement the regulation.
