Pelindo III Urged to Immediately Build Gili Mas Seaport in Lombok

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has urged state-owned port operator PT Pelindo III to accelerate the construction and the operation of Gili Mas seaport in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara province.
He said that it is important to accelerate the construction of the airport to help ease traffic burden at the existing Lembar seaport in Lombok.
“I want that the construction of Gili Mas seaport is finished in two stages: the first one for cruise ships and ro-ro vessels and is targeted to be completed by mid 2018, and the first one for containers that are expected to be completed in May 2019,” Budi said in a statement on Sunday (2/4).
In the meantime, PT Pelindo III Operational and Commercial Director Muhammad said that to build Gili Mas seaport, the company needs to reclaim an area of 22 hectares and in relation to the land acquisition, he said 60 hectares of land are ready to be built.
For the record, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the seaport was done on 22 December 2016.
