TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Persib Bandung signed former Chelsea and West Ham player Carlton Cole. Cole is the second high-profile player brought by Persib following Michael Essien ahead of the Gojek Traveloka Liga 1 competition.
Carlton Cole, 33, previously played for several British Premier League clubs, such as Chelsea, Aston Villa, West Ham United and Scottish club Glasgow Celtic.
Cole was playing for MLS Team Sacramento FC before being recruited for Persib. The striker, however, only played four games with Sacramento FC without scoring any goal.
Cole could become the most expensively paid football player in Indonesia surpassing Michael Essien. According to Transfermarkt, Cole's was valued at 1.25 million Euros or Rp 18 billion as of November 2015.
Cole arrived in Bandung on Monday, March 27, 2017, and was welcomed by Persib Bandung manager Umuh Muchtar before being introduced to the media.
"[Cole] arrived on Monday, we negotiated on Tuesday, medical check ups were done on Wednesday and he passed, he is ready to join Persib," Persib Bandung CEO Teddy Tjahjono said.
