TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi has launched an investigation into the establishment of Santa Clara Church in North Bekasi by bringing together all parties involved in the issuance of the building permit.
Based on Tempo's observation, the parties present in the meeting include residents who gave their consent for the construction of the church in Harapan Baru Sub-district, North Bekasi, church congregation, the Religious Affairs Office, the Inter-religious Harmony Forum (FKUB), as well as local administration verification team.
"I bring [the parties] together to clarify the issue," Rahmat said on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
Rahmat then asked the parties to explain every detail of the permit issuance process, particularly request for consent from Muslim residents living around the church, which was built on a 6,500 square meters of land.
All parties claimed that they were no evidence of forged signature in the verification process. "I have personally asked the residents one by one, all is well," village verification team member Furqon said.
Rahmat added that he had brought together all parties to disseminate the Religious Affairs Minister Regulation No. 8 of 2006, and Religious Affairs Minister Regulation No. 9 of 2006.
