TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public transport company Blue Bird and ride-hailing transportation service provider GO-Jek have launched a joint service called GO-Blue Bird at Borobudur Hotel in Jakarta.
"We are heading toward a new era, for example, a coalition between locals," GO-Jek CEO Nadiem Makarim told Tempo at Borobudur Hotel in Central Jakarta on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
Nadiem said that users can now hail Blue Bird taxis via GO-Jek app following the launch of GO-Blue Bird service. Nadiem explained that the move has been made as GO-Jek wishes to share its technology with other transportation companies.
According to Nadiem, GO-Jek is a technology company, not a transportation company. Therefore, it can collaborate with those engaged in the transportation sector "to generate more profit."
Nadiem also said that the cooperation proved that the company is not against a healthy, pro-consumers competition. "Our customers had always asked: 'Why can’t we hail Blue Bird [taxis] via GO-Jek [app]?" Nadiem said.
PT Blue Bird director Adrianto Djokosoetono said that the company is proud to have established the cooperation. Adrianto considered the move as an opportunity to bring the transportation company closer to the consumers.
Adrianto explained that the company is eager to see how the app would affect their customers.
