TEMPO.CO, Bogor - General Election Commission (KPU) of Bogor City established a Smart Election House or RPP which will be officially launched in April 2017. “The RPP building is connected with the KPU headquarter, it’s currently in its finishing stage,” said KPU Commissioner of Bogor City, Bambang Wahyu, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Bambang said that the RPP is one of KPU’s attempt in educating voters about elections. The smart election house is a national program that is required to exist in the central and regional KPU offices in the country. “The RPP functions as an information center regarding the history of the elections in Bogor, the existence of KPU, and information about the voters,” he said.
The RPP consists of four main rooms, according to Bambang, which includes a simulation room, a display room that exhibits statistical data regarding the election, and a mini studio for film screenings and dioramas of election ballots.
The goal is to educate voters such as high school students and the general public, and pre-voters which include school students under the eligible voter age.
“Our goal is that they would have an understanding on how an election is held,” he said.
The construction of the facility only took one month to complete. Later in its launch, KPU Bogor plans to invite a number of universities and schools that have experienced in holding an e-voting for the school's internal organization chairman, for example.
“It’s also open for the general public. You only need to come to Bogor City’s KPU Headquarter or register your identity through KPU’s official website, it’s free,” he said.
