Jakarta Election Debate to be Held on April 12

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Election Commission (KPU) Jakarta chapter commissioner Betty Epsilon Idroos said that the KPU has set April 12 as the date for the gubernatorial debate for the second round of voting.

However, Betty did not confirm the location and the theme of the debate.

Likewise, KPU Jakarta chairman Sumarno said the commission has not decided on the technical aspects of the debate.

He has earlier said that the gubernatorial debate of the runoff election will only be held once instead of three as in the first round of Jakarta election.

Jakarta runoff election will feature two remaining candidate pairs i.e. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno. Basuki-Djarot pair won the first round of Jakarta election with 42.96 percent votes, followed by Anies-Sandi with 39.97 percent and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono-Sylviana Murni with 17.06 percent.
