Minister Calls for Transportation Facilities for Eid Travelers

TEMPO.CO, JakartaTransportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi appealed to all regions to arrange transportation facilities for the post-fasting Eid al-Fitr travelers this year.

"I have come here to inspect the seaport and airport conditions, notably Sampit Seaport. The number of travelers passing through this airport is usually high," the minister said while inspecting Sampit Seaport in East Kotawaringin District, Central Kalimantan, on Saturday (March 18).

Based on the available data, the number of passengers passing through this seaport during the Eid season last year stood at 27,000. They departed to Semarang in Central Java and Surabaya, East Java.

Sumadi was inspecting two seaport terminals, namely the Sampit Terminal designed specifically for passenger ships and Bagendang Terminal for containers.

Earlier, Sumadi also inspected the Kumai Seaport in West Kotawaringin District to inspect the preparations of the port for the Eid season in 2017, which is expected to fall on the fourth week of June.
