Ministry Warns Public Against Spreading Facebook Suicide Video

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Information Ministry has urged the public not to spread video showing suicide committed by Pahinggar Indrawan on Facebook.
The video went viral shortly after it was broadcast.
“I have urged whoever has the video not to spread the video and take down the video,” said Semmy Pangarepan, Director General of Information Application Affairs on Friday (17/3).
Semmy added that spreading the video violate Law on Information and Electronic Transaction (ITE), especially article 28 on the spread of misleading and negative information.
“Such as tragedy must not be for public consumption,” he said.
For the record Pahinggar Indrawan (50) was found dead in his house in Ciganjur, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta on Friday (17/3). He died after he committed suicide, which he broadcast live on Facebook.
