TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government's plan to impose a minimum and maximum limit for online-based transportation services tariffs has triggered different responses from customers.
In general, customers were concerned if online-based transportation services tariff is to be raised to match conventional taxis. Endah Antono, a vocational school teacher said that it would be unfortunate if online-based taxi tariff increases.
As a customer, Endah, who lives in Jalan Kebagusan Tiga, South Jakarta, argued that she likes using online-based transportation services because it is considerably cheaper compared to conventional taxis.
"[Hopefully] the tariffs will not be equal to conventional taxis, online taxis are extremely helpful with its low fares," Endah said to Tempo on Friday, March 17, 2017.
Endah said that in addition to the cheap fares, she also considered online-based taxis safer. "Well yes it took some time to order, but it's okay," Endah said.
Endah added that she had never experienced any issues with online taxis. "Well out of four online taxis, one was quite uncomfortable, but it depends on the driver," Endah stated.
As previously reported, the government will start regulating online-based public transportation tariffs on April 2017.
"Later there will be upper and lower tariffs," said Director General of Land Transportation Pudji Hartanto on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
