TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The electronic identity card or e-KTP graft trial will hear the testimony from 8 witnesses to be brought to court by the public prosecutors for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said that the witnesses work at the Home Affairs Ministry, the Finance Ministry, members of parliament and private firm employees.
According to Febri, the budget process will be the KPK focus in today’s sessions of the trial. Going forward, the KPK will bring more witnesses to prove the charge.
Febri declined the reveal the witnesses who will appear at court.
During the session that heard the reading of indictment against two defendants Irman and Sugiharto last week, the prosecutors said that the defendants were charged for illicit enrichment in the e-KTP project that caused Rp2.3 trillion in state losses.
The defendants committed the acts together with Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong who served as provider of goods/services to the Home Affairs Ministry, Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the chairman of the Indonesian Government Printing Office-led consortium, Setya Novanto as Golkar faction speaker and Drajat Wisnu Setyawan as the chairman of procurement of goods and services in the directorate general of population and civil registry for the Home Affairs Ministry.
The project cost Rp5.9 trillion but only 51 percent of the budget was spent. The remaining 49 percent was embezzled by Home Affairs Ministry officials, members of parliament and private firm officials.
