TEMPO.CO, Palembang - The Culture and Tourism Department of South Sumatera recently introduced the German public to the local culture of South Sumatera by participating in the Internationale Tourismus-Borse Berlin (ITB) exhibition in Masse, Germany from March 8 to March 12, 2017.
One of the local culture presented in the exhibition was South Sumatera's traditional clothing worn by South Sumatera tourism ambassador Ratih Anggraini and Miss South Sumatera finalist Novi Triyastuti. "The [visitor's] reception was astonishing," said Irene Camelyn, Head of South Sumatera Culture and Tourism Department on Monday, March 13, 2017.
In addition, the local government also promoted their arts, natural resources, and tourism potential to ramp up the number of foreign tourists visit and to increase the province's revenue.
The Internationale Tourismus-Borse Berlin is the world's largest tourism exhibition participated by 179 countries attended by at least 200,000 visitors. "By participating in this exhibition, we hope that in the future, our foreign tourist visit target can be achieved," Irene said.
Governor of South Sumatera, Alex Noerdin stated that he will try his best to promote the region's tourism potential, both domestically or overseas.
