TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least four climbers were missing at Mount Mekongga, Kolaka, South East Sulawesi province.
They are identified as Edi Mulyadi (27), Toto (20), La Ode (27), and Khairat (25), who is a woman. One of the those is also a member of a mountain climbing club at Faculty of Economics at Haluoleo University.
“They were separated from their group,” said spokesperson of the Kendari Search and Rescue Team Wahyudi on Saturday (11/3).
Wahyudi added that the climbers began the climbing on Sunday (5/3).
Shortly after they were reported missing, a joint team consisting of Kolaka search and rescue team, Kolaka mountain climbing club, and Ranteganin sector police.
To reach the peak of Mount Mekongga, there are eight posts that climber must pass.
The joint team received a report that the climbers were on post seven.
“The search was halted due to the bad weather,” said Andi Muhammad Akbar, coordinator of Pos SAR Kolaka. Akbar estimated that can reach post seven in two to three days.
