TEMPO.CO, Semarang - The Indonesian Association of Housing and Residence Developer (APERSI) stated that consumptive behavior is the main obstacle for most Indonesians to own a house, in addition to wage disparity.
"Credit cards, vehicle ownership credit and other consumptive credit has hampered [people] from owning a house," said Chief of Central Java APERSI Executive Board (DPD) Bayu Rama Djati on Monday, March 6, 2017.
Bayu asserted that consumptive behavior affects a person's chances to obtain house ownership loan. Based on Bank Indonesia's examination, people often has outstanding debts or installments.
In addition, Bayu said that people's chances to own a house can also be affected by uncontrollable inflation and land values.
Nevertheless, Central Java APERSI claimed that they would still be able to provide enough housing for the people.
