TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok on Saturday, March 4, 2017, declared the memorial site for Habib Hasan bin Muhammad Al-Haddad, also known as Mbah Priok, as a cultural heritage. Ahok earlier visited the memorial site, located in Koja, North Jakarta, in order to inaugurate it as a cultural heritage.
Attending the inauguration were memorial caretaker, North Jakarta Mayor Wahyu Haryadi, officials of the Jakarta Library and National Archives (BPAD), the Tourism and Culture Agency, and others.
“I am glad and honored [to be here],” Ahok said when delivering a speech at the Mbah Priok memorial site.
“I know that there was a land dispute related to the memorial site. But I’m glad that everything has been cleared, and this site is protected by law,” Ahok said.
During the inauguration, Ahok handed over a Governor Decision Letter to one of Hasan bin Muhammad al-Hadad’s descendants, Abdullah Sting Alaydrus.
Hundreds of people who visited the memorial site attended the inauguration. The occasion was concluded with bread breaking.
