TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that Indonesia and Saudi Arabia will soon form a team to follow up bilateral meetings held during Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud's visit to Indonesia.
"We'll form a team to work on details of [cooperation in] education, social and investment sectors," Kalla said at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Kalla explained that the visit from King Salman was not only about investment, but also about how to strengthen relationships between the two countries. Kalla added that technical discussions will be held after the visit.
Earlier today, Kalla accompanied Saudi Kingdom delegations to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, as the entourage was scheduled to depart for Bali to go on vacation. The aircraft carrying the entourage took off at 10 a.m. West Indonesia Time.
Kalla said that the visit from King Salman would change the perception towards Indonesia as a country that ships migrant workers to Saudi Arabia. Kalla said that King Salman and his entourage were surprised with buildings that are taller than those in Riyadh or Jeddah. Kalla hopes that the visit would improve Indonesia’s image in Saudi Arabians' eyes.
