TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) spokesman Slamet Maarif said that FPI leader Rizieq Syihab will be present during the visit of King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia to the Parliamentary Complex at noon.
According to him, other ulemas representing the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Ulema Council’s Edict (GNPF MUI) have also been invited. “The leaders [attending] the 212 rally are also invited,” Slamet added.
The leaders referred to by the FPI spokesman are the GNPF MUI chairman Bachtiar Nasir, deputy chairman Ziatun Rasmin and the Indonesian Ummah Forum (FUI) secretary general Al Khattath.
The House of Representatives (DPR) official Damayanti could not confirm the guest list for King Salman’s visit to the Parliamentary Complex.
The parliament, she said, has invited former Indonesian presidents, former members of parliament, Cabinet ministers, political party leaders and state officials. Representatives of neighboring countries have also been invited.
“There will be ambassadors, but only of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation [OIC],” she said.
King Salman is slated to arrive at the Parliamentary Complex at 1 pm Jakarta time. He will be greeted by the DPR leaders at the Nusantara Building.
