TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 will clear the streets passed by Saudi Arabias King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud from the Bogor Palace to Jakarta. Police has called public to redirect their routes to avoid traffic jams.
“All streets to be passed by King Salman will be closed, including flyover and non-toll roads. Drivers are expected to take other routes. Police personnel will direct them,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Raden Prabowo Yuwono said in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
Argo extended apology to Jakarta residents for the traffic redirection in order to secure King Salman’s visit. However, Argo said that the move was in accordance with the standard operating procedure for the security of state guests.
“The most important thing is that we need to show that we are a good host,” Argo added.
Argo explained that King Salman and his entourage, consisting of about 1,300 people, will depart from Bogor to Jakarta via the Jagorawi toll road. The entourage will stay at three hotels in Mega Kuningan, namely Raflex, Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott. The Presidential Security Details (Paspampress) will lead the entourage.
Argo ensured that the traffic engineering would be temporary. Full security measures will be also taken around the hotels. Argo said hundreds of police personnel have stood guard on locations since noon to ensure secure stay for King Salman.
