TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air officially opened a new flight route from Adi Soemarno International Airport in Solo to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The airline marked the route’s maiden flight on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
"The opening of the new route is an expansion of Lion Air's connectivity network in Solo, which uses Adi Soemarmo International Airport as a connecting airport on October 2016," said Lion Air Group Managing Director Capt. Daniel Putut in a written statement on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
Daniel said that the new route will allow Solo citizens to enjoy international flights and reduce traffic in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Lion Air Group is known to operate an airline in Malaysia, Malindo Air. Daniel added that the direct flight to Kuala Lumpur would allow passengers to connect with other foreign countries such as Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and India.
"This also applies the other way around. Solo's attractive cultural tourism charm will potentially attract foreign tourists," Daniel said.
Daniel also hoped that with easier access will help to develop Indonesian tourism sector.
