Ahok Showcases Transjakarta Vintage Bus with `Telolet` Bus Horn

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The once-famous ‘telolet’ bus horn was heard in the front yard of Jakarta City Hall today. Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama rode the Transjakarta vintage bus to attend a meeting at the Hall.
City-owned bus operator PT Transjakarta president director accompanied Ahok on the bus. Upon arrival, Ahok allowed media workers to enter the bus.

Speaking on the bus’ seat, Ahok explained the advantages of the bus. “There is an extra space between seats on this bus. The floor will not be slippery when wet,” he said.
The bus is equipped with an automatic transition and air suspenders. It has a capacity of 60-70 passengers.
When talking to media crews, Ahok said, “Om telolet, Om” (Sir, honk the horn, Sir) to the Transjakarta bus driver, which was met with laughter from those present at the location.
Ahok then came to the drivers’ seat before honking the ‘telolet’ horn.
“It’s been made as comfortable as possible to get people to use city bus. The ‘telolet’ is just for fun,” he said before attending the meeting.
“The ‘telolet’ will be honked when the bus approaches a [Transjakarta] bus stops,” Ahok added.
