BI Reports Current Account Deficit Drop in 4th Quarter

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) reported the decline in the deficit of the current account in the fourth quarter of 2016 into US$ 1.8billion or 0.8 percent from the Gross Domestic Product.

The figure is lower than that in the previous quarter at US$ 4.7 billion or 1.9 percent from the GDP.

The drop in the deficit happened as global economy and Indonesia’s economy improve.

"This is supported by the improvement in the performance of balance of trade of goods and primary incomes," said Executive Director of Communication Department of Bank Indonesia Tirta Segara on Friday (10/2).
