Sri Mulyani Explains OJK Officials Selection Process

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that there are around 800 have applied to be members of the Financial Services Authority's (OJK) Board of Commissioners for the 2017-2022 period. Sri expected the number of participants that passed the initial administrative selection to be around 200 people.

"Next week, on [February 8, 2017], we will announce who passed the administrative selection process," Sri said on Friday, February 3, 2017.

The positions available in OJK's Board of Commissioners are Chairman, Vice Chairman, Chief Executive Banking Supervisor, Chief Executive of Capital Market Supervisor, Chief Executive Supervisor of Insurance and Other Financial Services Institutions, Head of Board of Auditors, and Consumer Education and Protection.

The registration was opened from January 17, 2017, and was closed on February 2, 2017. The selection committee will pick 21 names that will be handed over to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on March 13, 2017. The President will then announce 14 eligible names to the House of Representatives on March 29, 2017, to be admitted to a fit and proper test.

The fit and proper test will be held from March 29 until June 6, 2017, to pick seven individuals that will be members of OJK's Board of Commissioners. The inauguration process is scheduled to take place on July 21, 2017.
