TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ade Armando, communication expert and lecturer at University of Indonesia's Social and Political Science Faculty, has been named as a suspect by the Jakarta Police's cyber crime department.
The Jakarta Police's spokesman Sr. Comm Prabowo Argo Yuwono said Ade is charged with violating the Information Technology and Electronics Law (UU ITE) for the statements and opinions he posts online.
"Yes, we have named [Ade Armando] as a suspect," Argo said on Wednesday, January 25.
This is not the first time Ade has to deal with the police due to his online activities. In June 2016, a man named Johan Khan reported Ade to the police for what he posted to his social media account.
Ade posted that "Allah is not an Arab. I'm sure Allah is happy if his verses are read in Minang, Ambon, Cina, Hiphop, Blues styles."
He posted the line during a public fuss about the Quran being read in Javanese style. Ade was then summoned and questioned by the Police.
