TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bekasi resort police have arrested RM a.k.a Ucok, who has been a police fugitive for three years. Ucok is a suspect in the murder of Murtani (40), a bus timer.
Ucok escaped to North Sumatra after the murder.
In response to the arrest, Chief of Criminal Handling Division of the Bekasi Police Comr. Sr. Dedi Supriyadi said the murder took place on 5 April 2014 at around 10 pm local time.
"The victim suffered from a stabbing wound in the chest,” Dedi said on Sunday.
After the incident, Dedi added, Ucok escaped and the police lost track of him. It was recently found that the man was hiding in his hometown in North Sumatra.
After three years, the police could find his whereabouts and found that Ucok was working was a bus conductor. He was arrested without resistance in Rawakalong, Tambun Selatan district, Bekasi regency, on Tuesday (17/).
"The suspect admitted his action,” Dedi said.
Ucok told the police investigators that he ‘spontaneously’ murdered Murtani because the former was upset at being asked for many a lot if times.
For his crime, Ucok is now facing 15 years in jail.
