TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's import value in December 2016 reached US$12.78 billion. The figure shows an increase of US$110.9 million (0.88 percent) from November 2016's value of US$12.66 billion.
On a year-on-year basis, December 2016's import value is up by 5.88 percent to US $ 12.07 billion. However for the entire year of 2016 Indonesia's import value is down by 4.94 percent to US$135.65 billion.
"There was a decline in oil and non-oil imports by US$5.8 billion or 23.92 percent and by US$1.15 billion or 0.98 percent, respectively," Central Statistics Agency (BPS) chief Suhariyanto said in a press conference on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Suhariyanto said that the decline in oil imports was caused by a caused by a 16.53-percent drop in crude import value (US$1.33 billion), lifting oil by 28.97 percent (US$4.2 billion), and gas by 17.09 Percent (US$344 million).
In the last thirteen months, the highest value of oil imports was recorded in December 2015 with US$1.79 billion. The lowest was in February 2016 with US$1.12 billion.
The highest value of non-oil import was for December 2016 with US$11.09 billion and the lowest was in July 2016 with a value of US$7.51 billion.
