TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yodi Mutiara Prima, owner of the Zahro Express motor boat, answered Police summons in relation to the fire incident that occurred on January 1, 2016. Jakarta Police’s water police unit director Sr. Comr. Hero Hendriatno Bachtiar said that Yodi was questioned at the Jakarta Police’s Water Police Corps.
“Correct. [Yodi] is being questioned,” Hero told Tempo on Friday, January 6, 2017.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said that the Jakarta Police’s Forensic Laboratory is still investigating the cause of the fire.
“The Forensic Lab has checked the burned ferry. They trying to figure out the cause of the fire,” Argo said at the Jakarta Police’s Headquarter on Friday, January 6, 2017.
Earlier, the Zahro Express motor boat caught fire during its journey from Muara Angke Port, North Jakarta, to Pulau Tidung, Thousand Islands regency on Sunday, January 1, 2016. Based on temporary data, the boat carried about 200 passengers.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) announced that as many as 24 passengers were killed in the incident, while others were injured, reported missing, and survived the explosion.
