TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Criminal Investigation Corps (Bareskrim) has taken over the report against Jokowi Undercover author Bambang Tri Mulyono, filed by former National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief Hendropriyono with the Jakarta Police.

“That’s correct. Hendropriyono’s report against Bambang Tri filed with the Jakarta Police has been taken over by Bareskrim,” National Police spokesperson Rikwanto said in Jakarta on Friday, January 6, 2017.

Hendropriyono filed the report on December 21, 2016, as he objected being mentioned in Jokowi Undercover written by Bambang Tri. In addition to Hendropriyono’s report, police received two other reports against Bambang Tri.

The first report was filed with the Magelang Police and the Central Java Police in relation to the same book. Bareskrim had taken over the case and named Bambang as a suspect for allegedly spreading hatred speech.

The second report was filed against Bambang by an individual named Bimo with Bareskrim in relation to defamation. Bimo had been questioned by Bareskrim investigators as a witness.

Bambang sold Jokowi Undercover directly by promoting it via his Facebook account and flyers. The book was allegedly written without being supported with primary and secondary data.

“The suspect has no supporting documents in relation to the allegation of data forgery committed by President [Joko] “Jokowi” [Widodo] when applying for a presidential candidacy to the General Elections Commission (KPU). The suspect also allegedly spread hatred through the book,” Rikwanto explained.

Rikwanto revealed that the allegations contained in the book were based on the suspect’s personal point of view. The image analysis in the book was also based on the suspect’s point of view.

“The author’s motive was to write a book that could attract people’s attention,” he said.
