TEMPO.CO, Bangkalan - Bangkalan resort police in East Java have ban people from taking selfies in Suramadu bridge on New Year’s eve as it can cause traffic congestion, and worse, accidents.
"For our convenience, do not take selfies on the bridge,” said Chief of Bangkalan resort police Comr. Sr. Anissullah M. Ridha on Saturday (31/12).
Anisullah added that based on the experiences in the previous years, on the number of vehicles crossing the bridge rises on New Year’s eve, especially from Bangkalan-Surabaya because many Madura residents want to celebrate New Year’s eve in Surabaya.
"They usually take selfies and upload the pictures to the social media. It can disturb other bridge uses,” Anissullah said.
In addition, seven days before New Year’s even, the police have also set up observatory posts in the gates of Suramadu bridge.
