TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The security at the House of Representatives (DPR) and the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) has been strengthened. MPR Chairman, Zulkifli Hasan, said that the reinforcement is to anticipate the impact of the third Act to Defend Islam.
Hasan said that there are already a number of security officers guarding the place. “If there are other groups taking advantage of the super peaceful act [then] it’s a part of our duty as a law enforcers,” Zulkifli said on Friday, December 2, 2016.
From Tempo’s observation, dozens of Pamdal (internal security) can be seen guarding the House’s enterance gate located at Gelora Street. Visitors are also strictly inspected before entering the place.
There are also hundereds of Police officers staying post inside the DPR building. They set up tents at DPR’s yard. The police are armed with shields and helmets. There were at least 5 water cannon’s securing the rally.
