TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has announced today the result of the examination of dossier in blasphemy case against suspect Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama.
“On this day, November 30, 2016, the Attorney General’s Office has decided that the case dossier of suspect Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, or known as Ahok, is P21,” Deputy Attorney General for General Criminal Conduct Noor Rachmad said this morning at the AGO building.
Rachmad explained that the P21 means the AGO’s General Criminal Conduct Division has declared that the case dossier issued by Police Criminal Investigation Unit [Bareskrim] has met the requirements to be brought to court. “Therefore, the AGO asks investigators to promptly follow through with [the decision] by handing over the evidence and the suspect,” Rachmad said.
Bareksrim named Ahok as suspect on November 16. Ahok has allegedly insulted Islam in his speech on the Seribu Islands on September 27. In a video that was uploaded to Youtube, Ahok made reference to surah al-Miadah, verse 51 of the Holy Koran.
