Jakarta Claims 2018 Asian Games Preparation Nearly Complete

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta Governor Soni Sumarsono claimed that the preparation for the 2018 Asian Games has run smoothly. He admitted that the  Jakarta’s Equestrian and Horse Racing Association (Pordasi) protested about the horse racing arena.

“It depends on the land acquisition; there was a protest from Pordasi (on) why the horse racing arena was erased,” Soni said on November 28, 2016.

According to him, the construction of a horse racing arena for the 2018 Asian Games will soon be built, as it is one of Pordasi’s demands.

The Asian Games which will be held on August 18, 2018 – September 2, 2018, will have Jakarta and Palembang as host locations. In 1962, Jakarta was once the host of Asia’s sports festival event.

Constructions and other developments in facing the 2018 Asian Games, Soni said, is running smoothly and is almost completed. One of the supporting facilities of the Asian Games is the light rail transit (LRT). The acting governor expected the LRT's construction will be done by 2018.
