TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A relatively small number of taxpayers are participating in the tax amnesty program, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said. "Only 461,798 taxpayers are taking part in the program, compared to close to 22 million taxpayers who file tax returns," she disclosed during a training event for journalists on Saturday.
She called for efforts to make more taxpayers participate in the program. She expressed the hope that the number of tax amnesty participants, including personal and corporate taxpayers will increase, particularly in the second phase of the tax amnesty campaign.
The tax tariff applicable during the second phase is lower than what it will be in the third phase of the amnesty program. "We appeal to the taxpayers to avail of the program during the second phase of the campaign as it offers lower tariff on redemption funds," she advised.
