TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former deputy for youth development of the Youth and Sports Ministry Sakyan Asmara has been named chairman of the Olympic Centre ad hoc committee by the government. Saykan remits will include setting up strategic plans on the Olympic Centre development.
Aside from Syakan, the team comprises of Yoeni Poerwati as secretary and three other members, namely Sports Ministry official Gatot S Dewa Broto, businessman Francis Wanandi and retired athlete Lukman Niode.
The National Youth and Sports Development Center (PP-PON) belonging to the Youth and Sports Ministry in Cibubur, East Jakarta, will be turned into the Olympic Center.
Development has already begun, Gatot said. The first phase will see the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry develops and renovates the PP-PON. The firts phase of development is expected to complete at the end of the year.
PP-PON will be turned into the Olympic Centre following renovation to Bung Karno Sports Complex ahead of Asian Games 2018. The Olympic Center is expected to mark progress in the nation’s sports development, boasting a host of ancillary facilities, such as sport science and anti-doping lab.
