TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Inactive Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said that he will do nothing ahead of the November 4 protest. Ahok said that he will let authorities handle it instead.
“I think we should let authorities handle the 4 November [protest]. I have repeatedly said that even if I was wrong, I had extended my apology,” Ahok said Tuesday during his visit to Kemayoran in Central Jakarta.
The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) and other Muslim organizations had planned to hold a massive protest demanding investigation into Ahok’s alleged blasphemy. The protest will be held at noon after Friday prayer on November 4 by marching from Istiqlal Mosque towards the Presidential Palace.
Ahok said that Indonesia is a nation based on the rule of law, adding that security personnel will act professionally. He therefore said that he is not concerned with the protest.
“It’s not a revolution,” Ahok said.
