TEMPO.CO, Palu - Tourism Ministry has named Southeast Sulawesi’s top three attractions.
“They are Togean, Matantimali, and prehistoric sites and megalithic statue in Bada Plain, Poso,” Southeast Sulawesi Tourism and Creative Economy Department head Norma Mardaju said on Tuesday, November 1, in Palu.
He said that Togean is located in Tojo Una-Una District, which is frequently visited by foreign tourists for its beauty and unique underwater scenery with fish and coral reef.
Matantimali in West Dolo, Sigi District, is a destination for aero sports tourism. Foreign tourists and paragliders have been attracted by it.
Similarly, the prehistoric tourist attraction in Bada Valley, Poso District, is popular among cultural experts, students, and researcher across the globe, he said.
Southeast Sulawesi provincial government continues to improve tourism infrastructure in the region, particularly roads leading to tourist destinations.
Southeast Sulawesi is aiming to attract two million tourists this year. The target may be exceeded since the government has introduced the visa waiver program.
