TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to open the second International Symposium on Fisheries Crime at the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace. This event will be held for two days on October 10 – 11, 2016.
The 2nd International Symposium on Fisheries Crime is an event that discusses various problems such as illegal fishing, human trafficking, drug crimes, tax fraud, issuance permit corruption, and money laundering.
As many as 46 countries participate the symposium, among others Australia, Austria, China, India, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Vietnam. President Joko Widodo is planned to deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the event. The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti will also deliver an opening speech.
Other speakers that are planned to speak at the international symposium are Deputy Minister of Fisheries of the Norwegian Ministry of Trade Industry and Fisheries Ronny Berg, Director of the Division fo Operations and Deputy Executive Director of UNODC Aldo Lale Demoz, and David Higgins INTERPOL Environmental Crime Sub-Director.
This will be the second time the international symposium to be held in Indonesia as the host. The event was first held in South Africa and was participated by 36 countries.
