Jokowi Wishes Happy Islamic New Year to Indonesian Moslems

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo extended Islamic Happy New Year greeting to all Moslems in Indonesia.

President Jokowi also urges Moslems to use the momentum of the Islamic New Year 1438 Hijriah for introspection.

The President expressed his greeting on his official Twitter account on Sunday at 10.32 am.

"Happy Islamic New Year 1438 Hijriah. This New Year is a good momentum for us for introspection and contemplation –Jkw-,” he tweeted.

President Jokowi also wants Moslems in Indonesia become part of the global Moslem community that can move the economy.

The same statement was also made by Jokowi at the opening of the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum on 2 August 2016. In his introductory remarks at that time, Jokowi wants Moslem community become a mover of the global economy that is still slowing down since the financial crisis that began eight years go.

"Amidst our current global condition, Moslem community around the world have to use fundamental strength, “Jokowi said.
