TEMPO.CO, Sidoarjo - Bali International Film Festival (Balinale) will once again be held this year. Balinale 2016 will feature over 100 films from 31 countries, including Indonesia.
Unlike previous editions, this year’s event will not have a certain theme. “In last year’s event we had a specific theme such as the environment or women. In the 10th Balinale we will adopt ‘No Boundaries’ as a theme,” said the founder of Balinale Deborah Gabinetti Tuesday at FX Sudirman, Central Jakarta.
He went on to say that the aforementioned theme is key to promoting art as a medium for artists to go beyond the boundaries and brige the gap between communities the world over.
Local films which will screen in the event are Negeri van Oranje, The Promise, My Stupid Boss and Copy of My Mind, among others. Whereas hundreds of foreign films will also screen, such as Early Winter (Canada/Australia), Mr. Gaga (Israel), Hunt for the Wilderpeople (New Zealand), and Rigoberta Menchu: Daughter of the Maya (the US).
The 10th Balinale will also host various workshops, seminars and discussions. “On the occasion, filmmakers across the globe will meet Indonesian filmmakers,” she said.
Balinale 2016 will be held on September 24-30 at Cinemaxx Lippo Mall Kuta, Bali. Aside from indoor activities, outdoor ones will also be held during the festival on Jalan Kartika Plaza, Bali.
